Saturday is a day for swooning. Swoon Worthy Saturday, hosted by staybookish, is a weekly meme where in we present a fictional boy who has swept us off our feet, given us butterflies, made our heart do acrobatics and driven us absolutely crazy!
Dimitri, my last #SWS, is potentially getting the cut. Sorry Dimitri fans! I’ve read Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4) and he has gone to the dark side. Total turn off… Maybe things change in the next installment.
Let me introduce you to this week’s #SWS:
~ Wesley Rush! ~
» The Gist
You can read all about Wesley Rush in Kody Keplinger’s novel, The Duff. He is the reason behind this novel, introducing us to this term “The Duff”, meaning the Designated Ugly Fat Friend. Not a nice term is it? I don’t know why he thought this was appropriate to call Bianca Piper TO HER FACE. Probably because she liked to dish out the hate to Wesley. There is always that one boy at high school who likes to tease girls, every time you saw him? I knew one. He was a pain in the ass. But I think his smart alec comments came from the crush he had on my friend 😉
Back to Wesley… Bianca describes him as a womanizer. It’s a well known fact that he likes to sleep around. He doesn’t get tied down with girlfriends and making commitments that he won’t keep. I guess he’s the high-school bad-ass, which makes the girls swoon.
Wesley lives in the nicest place in their small town, the mansion. His bedroom has a balcony that girls want to be seen on. But how many girls who have actually spent time in that house, not in his bed? That’s another question. Probably zero.
I don’t know how realistic Wesley’s situation is. He lives in this giant mansion, pretty much on his own. His parents are always out of town travelling and his little sister lives with their grandmother while the parents are away. We do meet both the sister Amy, and grandmother briefly. It’s probably the funniest scene and the most embarrassing moment for Wesley. No spoilers from me.
» Swoon Worthy Moments
The really swoon moments happen towards the end, like all good love stories when the person starts fighting for the one they love.
“I think about you much more than any self-respecting man would like to admit, and I’m insanely jealous of Tucker – something I never thought I’d say. Moving on after you is impossible. No other girl can keep me on my toes the way you can. No one else makes me WANT to embarrass myself by writing sappy letters like this one.
This is the line that probably seals the deal for Wesley. His big ego is gone and he’s finally ready to go after her. It’s cheesy when you read it, but you’ll get a sappy love grin.
“Wesley Rush doesn’t chase girls, but I’m chasing you.”

Hazel at Stay Bookish has featured Wesley. If you wanna read her post, click here.
Kody Keplinger also has a character profile on her site, click here. It has small facts that we didn’t know, like he’s ranked third in his class and his middle name is Benjamin…
» Celebrity Dreamcast!
The author, Kody Keplinger, pictures Jeremy Sumpter as Wesley Rush. You can bag the author’s vision. But I can definitely add my perspective. What about Max Thieriot? Someone a little younger perhaps, like Jake T. Austin?
