Book Pool Challenge | Starts Jun 2016

Have you heard of a Book Pool Challenge?

I have only seen this type of reading challenge done in the Crazy for Young Adult and Crazy for New Adult groups on Goodreads. I really loved taking part and I thought that I would start this up for the Book Lovin’ Kiwis group.

All you do is,

  1. Ask each person in the group to recommend 3 books to add to the “Pool”. Avoid duplicates.
  2. Set a timeframe. Ours are one or two-month challenges.
  3. At the end of the month, close the Pool and invite the group to read any or all of the books.
  4. If people want to join after the close date, they can claim points, but not add new books to the pool.
  5. 1 point per book read.

booklovinkiwis-goodreads-profileSo as an example, Book Lovin’ Kiwis are having a two monthly challenge. Today, I opened a new thread on Goodreads asking for participants to name their three books. The Pool will close on 31 May. The reading begins on 1 June and continues til 31 July. You can join whenever you like, but there will be no pool entries once pool has been closed. You can pick any genre book, they can be novellas, poetry, short stories, graphic novels, chunky reads, you name it.

It’s the stress-free way to readathon. Zero pressure. It’s all about reading what you want and maybe finding something in the Pool that piques your interest.

You are more than welcome to join us! Check out the Book Lovin’ Kiwis Group on Goodreads for more info.
