Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts #7

Bookish ThoughtsBookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a weekly meme hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous Books.

Heeeelllllooooo!

I’ve been a little slack in my posting this month, and that is probably due to a lack of reading… Buuuuut, I’m back for my 7th round of B(&NSB)T.

In Bookish news,

1. I mentioned my Youtube channel last month and I still have done nothing to progress this. I recently had a comment on one of my old videos, so I really do think it’s time for another video. I’m gonna do one for Dewey’s 24 Hour #readathon… maybe…

2. My library, you astound me! I was browsing for some e-books on Overdrive and BOOM, Gisborne Library made my fricken day. They got in Colleen Hoover’s Confess & Maybe Not! I requested them straight away and can happily say, I finished Maybe Not last night. It had me lol’ing and the title is just so fitting. It get’s 5/5 stars from me. I received Confess last night so that’s on my TBR this week.

3. I signed up to be a reader and cheeleader for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this weekend. NZ Start time in 1:00am on 26th April. Not ideal, but it happens every time. This year I’m lucky enough to have the day off on Monday, due to Anzac Day.

4. I’ve got a decent library haul this month. Will put up a pic on Instagram. It’s likely to be my #readathon TBR this weekend:-

  • The Ruby Circle, by Richelle Mead
  • Unearthly, by Cynthia Hand
  • The Rise, by Julie Plec
  • Not That Kind of Girl, by Lena Dunham
  • Kite Runner: the graphic novel, Khaled Hosseini
  • A Game of Thrones – Volume 2: graphic novel, by Daniel Abraham

In Not So Bookish news,

5. It’s Anzac Day this Saturday for New Zealand and Australia. A day we remember those who have and those who continue to lay their lives down for us. #LestWeForget

~ Peace be with you ~

Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts #6

Bookish ThoughtsBookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a regular meme hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous Books.

Wassup everyone!

It’s hump day and I could really do with a coffee.

In Bookish news,

1. I’m putting some thought into my Booktube Channel. I haven’t made a video in 6 months (gosh that’s depressing) and the last two I recorded never made it up. But Teo (a NZ booktuber) put up a Pitch Perfect Book Tag and I really want to participate. Check out her video here.

2. I just finished Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5) and I seriously need the last book. It’s out from the library until 7 April. That’s like 2 weeks away. I really want it NOW.

3. My first assignment is due tomorrow for my Professional and Technical Writing class. I almost feel bad that I asked for an extension because I’m pretty sure I could finish it by tomorrow. Will push myself (once I have lost all distraction in this post) to see if I can.

In Not So Bookish news,

4. Have you heard of Canva? It’s like a super easy graphic design website or app. I love it and I can’t wait to “mainstream” all my posts with cool Sharlene Says images.

5. My husband has set up a bank meeting with my current bank. Hopefully he makes the switch because I really don’t want to switch to his. Our first home is on the horizons!

6.  I made these on Canva. Honestly, there are heaps of images template backgrounds available for free. You can click on these if you wanna find me on Twitter & Youtube.

follow me on twitter Find me on #youtube

That’s all I can think of, so that’s me for another week. If I get a quiet moment later this week, then I will write up a review for some books I’ve read. Also next weekend a Swoon Worth Saturday post is definitely going up. I can’t wait to share him with you guys.

Ciao for now,

Bookish (and not so bookish) Thoughts – #5

Bookish and Not So Bookish ThoughtsBookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a regular meme hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous Books.

Kia Ora everyone!

I don’t know how I missed posting last week and this is a few days late. I hope to make up for my slack posting this week. This week I finished an ARC I received last year, so a review for Dante’s Fire is coming soon.

In Bookish news,

1. I signed up to be a tour host for IndieSagePR so expect to see regular book blitz, cover releases, teasers, reviews, book blog tours right here on SharleneSays. I will do my best to stick to standalone novels or firsts in a series, unless its the next book in a series I have already featured.

2. I’m 2 books ahead of schedule for my 2015 Goodreads Challenge. I’m doing my best to keep it like this so I have to read 1-2 books every week. You can check out the list of books I’ve read here.

3. I’m halfway through reading the Bloodlines series. Next on my agenda is Silver Shadows.

In Not So Bookish news,

4. I take part in a weekly twitter chat with people worldwide about various topics concerning church and social media. If you wanna know more, follow @chsocm or check out our discussions using #chsocm.

5. During this week’s chat, I discovered Digiproud, a blog with advice on digital and social media for churches. The latest post “5 Ideas for Regular Features” is pretty generic and could be adapted for us bloggers too. Give something people will look forward to. Gosh, I hope I do that?

6. Lastly, tonight NZ says goodbye to Cyclone Pam. Towns up the eastern coast were worse off than us here in Gisborne, severe floods and evacuations. Nothing compared to the devastation in Vanuatu. I keep everyone in my prayers.

That’s a wrap for my week. What have you read lately? Tell me all about it in the comments section.

Bookish (and not so bookish) Thoughts – #4

Bookish and Not So Bookish ThoughtsBookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a regular meme hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous Books.

Kia Ora everyone!

How has your week been? I couldn’t believe it was February already and now half of it has gone. This year is gonna be just like last year. Gone before I know it.

In Bookish news,

1. I really am not sticking to my reading resolutions for 2015. It’s the second month of the year and I signed up to a monthly reading challenge. The Crazy for Young Adult Book Pool. There were a few books listed that were part of series that I want to read this year. At the very least it might encourage me to read these sooner.

2. Fifty Shades of Grey movie has been released and I still haven’t been to see it yet. I knew there were gonna be mixed reviews. I certainly don’t want to re-read the book before I got see it either. I will just compare everything and be sad about all the parts that were missed. Unleash your wildest fantasies and watch the trailer here:

3. There are a a couple of new releases that are on my TBR and available now. The cover for Red Queen looks amazing and comes highly recommended by the ladies of #TeamEpicReads. The Ruby Circle is part of the Bloodlines series, the spin off from Vampire Academy. I don’t need to read the blurb to know its definitely on my TBR. Finally, Fairest. The novella before the next instalment of the Lunar Chronicles. Fans of the series wanna know what the deal is with Queen Levana and this bridging book is bound to answer our questions.

In Not So Bookish news,

4. My readers for the Professional Writing paper I’ve enrolled in have arrived. It has assignment dates and everything but the course isn’t available online yet. I should be reading some of those before my leisure reads. They should be at the very top of my TBR, but they can go to the bottom of the pile. Hey, at least they are making it to a pile. I could wait for the course to start?

5. I’m posting regularly now. The timings are a little sporadic. I have made me a blogging diary for 2015 so by next month you might know what to expect from this site each week. I’m really looking forward to posting a Swoon Worthy Saturday meme soon. They’ll be the last Saturdays of the month, I know that much!

Well, that wraps up my thoughts for this week. University is heading back soon. Are you going back to further education? Be interested to see what your plans are, balancing the goodreads with your College reads. Maybe you have some tricks to share. Let me know. I’m gonna need all the help I can. I don’t wanna put my books down.

Ciao for now!

Bookish (and not so bookish) Thoughts – #3

Bookish and Not So Bookish Thoughts

Bookish (and not so Bookish) Thoughts is a regular meme hosted by Christine at Bookishly Boisterous Books.

Kia Ora everyone!

This is my first B(&NSB)T post for 2015! There really isn’t a good way to shorten the name… that will do.

In Bookish news,

1. I have signed up for the 2015 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I am remaining with 100 books as my goal and focusing on finishing all the series I have started, especially the completed series. I like to think this will help decrease me TBR pile. Each month new books are released and I just can’t help but add them.

2. I purchased one book while I was holidaying in Los Angeles. This will probably be the last purchase for awhile! (See more about that here). I was at The Grove and introduced by hubby to Barnes & Noble, all 3 levels! I purchased ‘An Abundance of Katherines‘ by John Green. This will sit next to my copy of ‘The Fault In Our Stars‘ which I received for Christmas 2013.

In Not So Bookish news,

3. Have you discovered Red My Lips? I was invited to its 2015 event. I hadn’t heard about it. But its a worthy cause. Its a campaign designed to raise visibility and awareness about the realities and prevalence of sexual violence, while combating rape culture and victim-blaming. Their slogan: This is not about VANITY. It’s about VISIBILITY. So this April, I will consider wearing red lips when I am most visible to the public. Join the event on facebook here.

4. I’ve been spending a little bit of time lately on Pinterest, in particular all the home decor and DIY things for around the home. I can’t wait for the day when I own my home. We are renting at the moment so there are limitations to what I can do. I really need to declutter. I have a LOT of stuff. Maybe that can be a personal goal for the year. If it’s still in the garage in 6 months, then its gone.

That’s a wrap from me for this week. Catch ya next time. Bye!
