Bout of Books Readathon | May 2016

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 16 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

I really love Bout of Books readathon because it’s so relaxed. All you have to do is read. You pick the books and every page counts. Plus it’s week long, and low pressure.

I have no idea what I want to read, but I need to stop by the library and pick up a few graphic novels or short stories. Those are a great way to keep me motivated.

Also, follow the official hashtag #boutofbooks because so many people take part. You’re bound to find a new book to add to your TBR.

Sign up here, I really recommend it.

See you there!

Monthly Wrap Up & TBR | Apr-May 2016

Wrapup & TBR imageKia ora everyone. It is the 1st of May!

Honestly, the time is just flying this year. I feel like I haven’t accomplished much at all.

Luckily, I can’t say the same about the amount of books I’ve read. Pretty happy that I am keeping the book count up.

Bout of Books is happening this month, 9-15th. As of writing this, there were 145 people signed up. I will post my TBR for that next week. It’s a relaxed week long readathon. I highly recommend it!

I have 3 assignments due this month, 2 are due within the first week. Once I’ve knocked out those, I hope to get some serious reading in.

Books I read in April:

  1. Never, Never Part 3 by Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher
  2. Too Late by Colleen Hoover (available for free on WattPad)
  3. A Game of Thrones Graphic Novel, vol. 3
  4. The Monster’s Monster by Patrick McDonnell
  5. The Winter Train by Susanna Isern
  6. A Game of Thrones Graphic Novel, vol. 4
  7. Rahui by Chris Szekely
  8. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (audiobook, narrated by Stephen Fry)

Books to be read in May:

  1. Stars Above (Lunar Chronicles #4.5) by Marissa Meyer
  2. Lady Midnight (Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare
  3. Uprooted by Naomi Novik
  4. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
  5. Nimona (graphic novel)
  6. Lumberjanes (graphic novel)

Currently reading:

  1. Revenants: The Odyssey Home by Scott Kauffman
  2. Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince (audiobook)

Bout of Books 15.0 | Daily Updates

BOB 15 - Jan 2016

TBR

Finish books I’ve started: Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (audio) & Playlist for the Dead

To Be Read: Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between

That’s all I’ve got so far!

Day One – Monday

My biggest excuse is I’m packing up my house. It’s taking longer than I expected. Needs to be sorted by the end of this week.

I finished the Harry audio & I read all of Hello, Goodbye &. Everything In Between!

Page count: 80 + 248

Day Two – Tuesday

I missed the Chat! I had put it in my calendar & didn’t even hear the alerts. Reading has been slow. I finished Playlist for the Dead. Not sure what I’m gonna read tomorrow.

Challenge: Would you rather?

Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers? Dog ears. This question makes me cringe!

Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice? Character, because authors are people and there is already potential to meet them. Characters are fictitious, so would be amazeballs to meet one. Don’t ask me who, I don’t know.

Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again? Hands down Bookstore. I love the library.

Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book? Death seems a little harsh… so I’m gonna say Break up. Could you imagine if Edward really broke up with Bella?

Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life? I’ve never read The Scarlet Letter. I really want to, it’s on my TBR. I’ve read Twilight, so I guess that will be my pick.

Page count: 90, brings total to 418.

Day Three – Wednesday

Nothing to report. I managed to pack a box today. So it wasn’t totally uneventful.

Day Four – Thursday

I started reading The Sister Pact, which was a little depressing. Allie feels like she has been left behind by her sister Leah, who had overdosed and died… Not sure if I like the story, but I’m willing to stick it out and see where the end takes me.

Page count: 20, brings total to 438.

Day Five – Friday

I started Hold Me Closer:The Tiny Cooper Story. I’m finding hard to get into because its a musical novel. I would prefer to listen to how Tiny wants the lyrics sung, rather than guessing how they’d sing them. Is this out on audio?

Page count: 28, brings total to 466.

Day Six – Saturday

I read Pale Kings & Princes from the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy series. Will it’s a short and ticks the READ box, I’m not sure if I can keep up with the story. There are sooo many spin-offs! The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, Bane Chronicles, Shadowhunter Academy and now The Dark Artifices… Maybe I can wait until all the books have been published before continuing.

Page count: 40, not very good… but brings the total to 506.

Day Seven – Sunday

I read an entire book today, but I feel it makes up for my lack of effort throughout the week.

I knew On The Fence would be good. I like Kasie west’s writing. It’s easy to follow. The story feels real. Like I can picture all of the events and characters. Although the very start, Charlie speeding, I don’t think matched the rest of her character.

Page count: 296, brings the total to 802. I’ve still got a couple hours left… so will see if I can get another few pages in before I succumb to sleep.

Bout of Books 13

20130514-081419.jpgFrom one readathon to the next! Bout of Books 13 is just around the corner! It’s less pressure than Dewey’s, going all week long. I’ve got so many books out from the library and I haven’t finished any of them! This is definitely gonna help me out. I was an expert in the last one and will probably look to do the same this time. I’m signing up tonight. Here are some of the deets:

My Goals

I don’t have anything specific yet… Some ideas I’m toying with: 50 pages a day, upload a video with my progress daily, hold a bookish giveaway…
